The Hit (Dissonance)
Mervyn worked as dramaturg on this production by Strangeface Theatre Company who make and tour extraordinary mask and puppet theatre. The Hit, originally titled Dissonance, is an exploration of the weird phenomenon of cognitive dissonance through the even weirder medium of a fat nearly-naked puppet hitman telling you about a guy he met in a sauna.
The Hit was part-supported by the Wellcome Trust and was written and directed by Russell Dean, who also made the puppet and designed the show. The puppet, Mikey, is performed by three brilliant puppeteers - Tommy Luther, Chand Martinez, and Teele Uustani. We worked with Strangeface in workshops and rehearsals to develop the ideas and storytelling for the show.
